" If you don't want to get hit, then get th F--K out the way" It all started in the summer of 2006, after watching my first bout. Soon after long intense training, I was ready to report to the newly formed Bombshell Brigade, where my mission was to train my team and the league. When the mission was complete, I took the position of the Co-Captain for the BB's new 2008 season. I came up with the name because I'm the oldest player on the league, but don't be fooled (21 and holding). As soon as I hear the first whistle blow of the night, I simply go mental. Bouncing back and forth like a pinball, hitting one player into another, knocking them all over the rink and into your lap. The biggest beer pyramids are guaranteed to get taken down...and so might your child...so BEWARE! I used to skate at Dad's Broadway every Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights when I was in junior high. As my parents would drop me off and drive away, I would sneak out and meet my friends behind the rink or down by the creek. We were always looking for some trouble to get into, which we usually found. I practically lived at the rink, in fact my parents had their very first date at Broadway a very long time ago. 30 years later I'm back at the same rink where I used to skate as a teenager, still raising more hell than ever before...and better!
My injuries from my first season include, but are not limited to........ - MRI on my neck/shoulder. I have 1-bulging and 1-protruding disk in my neck, doc. said need to quit derby- HA! Like that was going to happen.
- MRI on my knee, required 6 wks physical therapy- got all better!
- X-RAY on my ribs, they were just bruised, went right back into the rink!
- X-RAY on my shoulder, just torn tissue, again went back for more, cant keep me away!
- Fractured my 5th metatarsal, this one kept me out for 5 months. This was my last injury.
This goes to show I am either really Mental or love pain. Probably both! If derby is a drug then I am an addict! |
